About Bonnie-Jean

My Story

Hi, I’m Bonnie-Jean—a South African Christian worship artist, singer-songwriter, author, and creative with one simple passion: to lead people into the presence of Jesus through authentic worship, honest storytelling, and music that points hearts back to Him.

I was born in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, and raised in a home where ministry wasn’t just something we did—it was our way of life. My parents were pastors, and some of my earliest memories are of falling asleep beneath church pews while my mother led worship and my father preached the Gospel. Looking back now, I can see that God was already writing my story long before I understood His plans for my life.

Music has always been part of who I am. I received my first guitar at the age of five, and before long I had fallen in love with the piano. By the age of seven, I was already writing my own songs. Even then, I knew I wanted to use music to glorify God, although I never imagined where that calling would take me.

Life hasn’t always been easy. I’ve walked through seasons of divorce, rejection, abuse, heartbreak, and loss. Yet it was in those moments that I discovered worship isn’t simply something we sing—it’s where healing begins. Worship became my refuge, my conversation with God, and the place where He continually reminded me that I was never alone. Every song I write today is shaped by those encounters with His faithfulness.

After studying worship and music, I founded my own music school, where I spent almost sixteen years teaching more than 1,000 students piano, guitar, singing, songwriting, and musical collaboration. Watching people discover their own God-given gifts has been one of the greatest privileges of my life.

For more than thirty years, I’ve also had the honour of serving in churches and ministries, leading worship, mentoring worship teams, and encouraging others to pursue God’s presence with authenticity and excellence.

Today, I continue to write and release original Christian worship music that reflects real life, real faith, and a very real God. My recent singles—Free, Enough, and Wave After Wave—tell the story of freedom in Christ, finding our identity in Him, trusting Him through every season, and discovering His grace again and again. My prayer is that these songs don’t simply become part of someone’s playlist but become part of their journey with Jesus.

Alongside my music, I’m also the author of the children’s book Why Mr Wind Was Late for His Date, because I believe stories have the power to inspire, encourage, and plant seeds of hope in every generation.

Whether I’m writing songs, leading worship, recording in the studio, speaking, creating, or simply sharing my journey, my purpose remains the same: to glorify God, encourage His people, and remind the world that no one is ever beyond the reach of His love.

If you’re looking for Christian worship music, original worship songs, faith-filled encouragement, or simply someone who believes that God still transforms lives today, then welcome. I’m so grateful you’re here, and I pray that everything you find here draws you one step closer to Jesus.

Because at the end of the day, that’s what it’s always been about.

Worship isn’t just what I do.

It’s who I am.
